# Setup Logging Channels

Ensure you have created the [logging channels outlined in the quick setup guide](/zts-guard-discord-bot/quick-start-guide.md#channel-creation).  These steps outline how to setup additional logging channels and suggested settings associated to them!

All configuration steps must initially be performed using the **server owner (cold admin) account**. While this feature is free, it works better when you have purchased a [Premium](/zts-guard-discord-bot/premium.md) subscription before proceeding.

## Open the setup menu

In `#ZTS-Guard-Admin`, type `/setup`.

## Select the logging channel

Choose `Logging Channel`, you should already have the `#ZTS-Guard-Logs` channel selected.  If not, select that channel now.

## Configure Toggle Logs

Select `Return to Logging Channel`, and then select `Toggle Logs` to choose which events are logged in `#ZTS-Guard-Logs`.

All possible logs are enabled by default. Removing any log events is not recommended.

**Anti-forward:** Logs showcasing any forwarded messages that got blocked (if enabled)

**Anti-link:** Logs showcasing any messages that contained a blocked link (if enabled)

**Auth:** Logs showcasing user action with authentication attempts with the ZTS Guard Discord Bot

**Command run:** Logs showcasing what commands were run by who with the ZTS Guard Discord Bot

**Temporary permissions:** Logs showcasing who got what permissions upon a successful 2FA authentication

**Webhooks:** Logs showcasing any webhooks that may be blocked if not allow listed (if enabled)

**Subscription:** Logs showcasing when a subscription has successfully renewed or if there were any issues renewing it

**Discord Status:** Log that will send a message anytime Discord as a platform post an update to the <https://discordstatus.com/>&#x20;

**Bot Status:** Log that will send a message in the channel if there are any scheduled maintenance/downtime, bot issues, or new feature updates

## Configure Log Mentions (optional)

Select `Log Mentions` to have the bot tag a role when specific events occur.

Enabling webhooks, subscriptions, discord-status, & bot-status to tag a team/admin role is strongly recommended. You can decide independently whether to enable pings for other event types.

## Setup Server Logging

Create a `#server-logs` channel and give access to mods, team, and ZTS Guard Discord Bot.&#x20;

## Set the logging channel

Type `/setup` → `Server Logs` → `Set logging channel` → select the new `#server-logs` you just created and then select `Return to server logs`.

## Enable log types

Select `Toggle Logs` and enable all available log types from the dropdown.

All log types are selected by default and enabling all log types is strongly recommended.  This ensures that all actions within a Discord server are properly logged and easily searchable as Discords native 'Auto Log' feature does not capture all actions and is very difficult to use.
